Graduation Requirements

Students will engage in a rigorous course of study and are required to complete 24 units of course credit across an assortment of content areas to prepare them for acceptance requirements at post-secondary institutions.

The coursework required includes the following:

  • English language arts………….4 Units…..4 years
  • Mathematics………………………..4 Units…..4 years
  • Science………………………………..3 Units…..3 years
    • lab science………………..2 units…..2 years
    • science elective…………1 unit…….1 year
  • Social studies……………………..3 Units………3 years
    • social studies…….2.5 units…..2.5 years
    •  civics…….0.5 units…….1 semester
  • physical education………………..1 unit….1 year
  • Arts or eligible Career & Technical Education (CTE) arts…..1 unit….1 year
  • Approved electives………………80 semester credits
ICAP

DPS requires all students to graduate having a plan for after high school that is meaningful to them. Students will continue to work with their counselors, teachers, and families to develop, update and complete their personalized Individual Career and Academic Plans (ICAPs), a process that starts as early as the sixth grade.
