Shared Vision Statement

West High School is a comprehensive high school with an early college and international diploma model that encourages students to pursue their post secondary goals. Our vision is to lead for Equity and Justice and our mission is to dismantle systemic racism by cultivating an inclusive school environment that provides a personalized education to every student with the opportunity to engage in rigorous college & career coursework and experiences.

Students have the opportunity to take college courses through concurrent enrollment alongside their high school diploma and earn up to 60 college credits to advance their post secondary goals.  As a small school, students have the benefit of a small community with the benefits of a comprehensive high school model with elective offerings, athletics and community partnerships.

We are proud to continue the prestigious Center for International Studies (CIS) that was born here at West High School as a magnet program in 1985. The CIS program was relocated as a standalone 6th -12th grade school from 2005 to 2025 known as DCIS at Baker. Starting in the Fall of 2025, the program has returned to the West Campus and is integrated into our programming. Known as the West Center for International Studies, students are able to pursue the International Diploma in addition to their high school diploma and continue their studies in global issues, languages and travel.

West High School has a thriving multilingual education program as a Transitional Native Language Instruction (TNLI) program school. We believe that speaking more than one language is an asset that should be developed through our biliteracy programming and advanced level Spanish coursework as well as through World Language offerings for Spanish, French, Mandarin Chinese and Japanese.

Denver West High School has embodied the principles of inclusivity and access to educational offerings for all students. The school’s commitment to diversity is evident in its diverse student body, which has grown over the years to represent a multitude of cultures, languages and backgrounds. This diversity enriches the learning environment, allowing students to share their unique perspectives and experiences, maintain their language, fostering a sense of belonging and understanding.
