What is FBLA?

The West High School Chapter of FBLA was founded in 1961. We are part of National FBLA, the largest student business organization in the country, and Colorado FBLA. The purpose of FBLA is to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs and to provide additional opportunities for students to develop career competencies. FBLA is an integral part of the business education classes at West High School. Our goals promote a sense of civic and personal responsability and our members adhere to theFBLA Creed.

What does FBLA do?

FBLA membership is open to any West High School student who is currently enrolled or has been enrolled in a business education or marketing education class. FBLA members are involved in a variety of fun and interesting activities that help promote their understanding of how business works. FBLA builds leadership skills that students use for the rest of their lives. FBLA members compete at the district, state and national levels in a variety of competitive events that demonstrate their understanding of business. FBLA is dedicated to "making the world a better place for everyone." We participate in community service projects in the school and community and support the March of Dimes, the national community service project of FBLA. Most of all, we prepare students to be competitive in the business world of the 21st century.

What's in it for me?

You are going to spend 45 years or more of your life working. Why not be a leader instead of a follower? FBLA participation is a powerful credential for your résumé, whether you are moving on to college or the workplace. The business community knows and respects FBLA. As an FBLA member, you will have a better understand of how business works than the average student. You will learn skills and gain a self-confidence that will make you a winner. For the first time in 2007-2008, it will be possible to earn an activity letter for your participation in FBLA. The purpose of this is to recognize outstanding leadership in FBLA, West High School and the community. The FBLA Letter is an achievement which sets you apart from the crowd! One thing is for sure, regardless of the career path you choose, you'll be leading the way.
