for a School Improvement/Beacon School proposal. Within this proposal we are looking at strengthening our partnerships with the Santa Fe Arts District, Denver Health, Community College of Denver, Metro State College, University of Colorado at Denver and Emily Griffith Opportunity School. Our vision is to create relevant pathways into higher education via rigorous and relevant coursework and real world experiences such as internships, externships and shadowing a variety of higher education options. The culture and climate at West has continued to change for the positive and I believe it will show itself through improved student performance. I have come to know the teachers at West High School and have found them to be very dedicated and talented professionals who are committed to helping students succeed. My goal is to continue to create a structured and supportive community environment that will push students to reach their full potential by accessing their individual strengths and passions.

This is especially important in 9th and 10th grades. Students who complete these grades successfully the first time are 50 to 60 % more likely to graduate.
